Chiang Mai is both a city and a province in northern Thailand.  It is also, perhaps, one of the most special places on earth.  Tourists flock here to get away from the hub-bub of Bangkok, and if you are an outdoorsy type, the adventures available from this region are plentiful and fulfilling.  Feel like riding on the back of an Asian elephant, or passing down a river on a traditional bamboo raft?  How about a trek through the underbelly of a mystical mountain where, as legend has it, seven magical wonders await those who dare to look for them?  Of course, if you are hoping to sink your teeth into the rich culture of Thailand's warm and friendly population, a visit to one of many hill-tribe villages may be just the exotic potion you are seeking.

Historically part of the Lanna region, Chiang Mai is the "the land of a million rice fields," and therefore home to some of the most extraordinary emerald green landscapes you will ever discover!  We recommend you lose yourselves here for at least two to three days. Trust us, you will want to return again and again!
